Comment on the suspension of cargo transportation to Afghanistan

In recent days, reinterpretation by the head of the ARA of the terms of the new contract between SE “Sogdiana Trans” and ARA, which was discussed and agreed with the special commission of Afghanistan in December 2022 and attempts to blame the Uzbek side in the media in order to justify themselves by interpreting the agreed service prices in a different way, is creating an incomprehensible situation.

However, no explanation is given for the fact that the Afghan side was not able to perform the technical works at the Hairaton station within the time limits set by themselves.

It should be noted that information was distributed about the signing of a contract with the “Mansor Fateh” company by the Afghanistan Railway Authority for the organization of the unloading and return of wagons delivered to the Hairaton station.

Unfortunately, this company could not manage to organize the works at Hairaton station in the agreed period until January 31.

In addition, despite the fact that SE “Sogdiana Trans” held meetings with entrepreneurs and helped them organize the temporary transportation of goods by auto transport in order to support them, information is coming that the Afghan side is advising entrepreneurs not to transport goods by auto transport.

At the same time, at the request of the management of the Afghanistan Railway Authority, it is planned to sign a new Contract between SE “Sogdiana Trans” and the Afghanistan Railway Authority on the organization of transportation of goods to Afghanistan by railway, move-in and move-out of wagons to Hairaton station, at the beginning of the next week in the city of Termez.

We inform that the Galaba-Hairaton railway will be opened from the date of signing the contract.
