Enhanced cooperation in containerization of freight transport

In the context of the global coronavirus pandemic COVID-19 and restrictions on interstate motor transport in many countries, “Uzbekistan Railways” JSC is carrying out the necessary work to reorient freight flows from road to railway.

These days, the next cargo transportation was carried out along the Trans-Caucasian multimodal corridor. 149 containers (20–40 ft) were shipped from Turkey through Uzbekistan, loaded with components and spare parts for the Kyrgyz manufacturing sector.

At the end of January this year, the first three freight trains from Kyrgyzstan proceeded through Uzbekistan to Georgia. In April, containers with export cargo from Turkey, necessary for the construction of power lines, were already transported through Uzbekistan to Kyrgyzstan.

In addition, more than 700 containers with export cargo were sent from Uzbekistan to Turkey. The service of these transportations is carried out by "Kaztemirylkonteyner" JSC.

In order to further expand bilateral cooperation between the railway administrations of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Republic of Turkey, the other day, negotiations were held in the format of online video conferencing.

The participants discussed issues of developing cooperation in the field of railway transportation of goods in international traffic and increasing container traffic.

A feature of the multimodal route through which cooperation in the field of cargo transportation is growing, it is the factor of ensuring for exporters of participating countries the possibility of delivering their products in less time.
